Berlin Olympia Stadium

Built in the mid 1930's, Berlin's Olympic Stadium witnessed Jesse Owens winning 4 gold medals in the 1936 Olympics as well as hosting a number of matches of the World Cup in 1974. The Stadium is currently undergoing reconstruction and modernisation work, which is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2004. Currently the stadium is home to 1. Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin and is also the venue for the German Cup Final.

How to get there:
From the main station (Zoo), take the underground train (U2) (direction Ruhleben) to �Olympia Stadion� (approx. 20min) and then a 5-10 walk to the stadium (or take the shuttle bus on match days). Free transport within Berlin is included with match tickets.

Stadium tours:
Not available at present, but visitors can enjoy the special exhibition �Olympic Stadium Berlin�, which documents the history and the future of the stadium. Open (from March �04) Wed and Sun, 10am � 6pm, adults €2.50, concessions available

Berlin:
Germany's capital, Berlin (pop. 3.39mil) is a city full of life. The city was re-united in 1989 and since then has become one of the most international and cosmopolitan cities in Europe.
